Subject: respect
Honestly i agree with Awesomage, it should be given away freely, if you dont respect someone when you meet them, how are they to respect you back. respect and proper manners need to be always there, yes earning "respect" and "disrespect" happens but how can you ever expect equalness and respect to yourself if you yourself dont respect others initially.

If you start of a relationship with out some sort of mutual respect you could harm a relationship without it actually blossoming. You dont just treat an instructor or elder with 'no respect' at least i would hope not. thats where manners come into play, sometimes it is just being in the proper manner mindset that shows all the respect needed.

also, common fact that not many people think of. even if the other person is disrespecting you, and you continue to be respectful and keeping manners it will drive them mad because here they are getting angry and you are continuing to maintain a calmness and manners they wont know what to do with you.

its sometimes the best way to handle a situation that could on other terms get carried away and blow up.
