However, having now seen the gold tax in the game for a month I've been starting to think that it does not go far enough.

Currently, the large gold hoarders are untouched by this change. They all have ways to protect their gold safely in hand at the start of each day, and as such are able to carry on much the same as before the tax was introduced. Instead, it is the players with the smaller amounts of gold that are bearing the brunt of this tax, as they are the ones who are either not strong enough or rich enough to be able to risk taking their gold out and leave it in hand for hours/days at at time.

What I believe should be done with this tax is

1) Increase the base tax amount from 10 to 100 million. This will enable the newer/weaker players to safely accumulate enough gold to purchase things such as a monthly subscription to the game.

2) At the start of each day, the gold in hand & in bank should be added together, and that is the amount that the taxed is applied to. This would close down the loophole that is currently being used by the richer players to ensure they keep their wealth.
