Subject: here goes . . .
. . . Once again the 'Pu' emerges from the tavern in daylight and curses his inability to have good nights sleep before a joust, but thankfully the day is cloudy and so the 'Pu' senses fortune is on his side for a change.

Barnaby has been well fed on cider and carrots and although the flatulence has upset the other horses, in particular a large White Stallion called 'Em' in general the stables seem peaceful . . .

As Pu recalls his humiliating defeat of yesterday, he remembers a line he read during his evening studies of chapter 4,
Chronicles of Froissart as said by Gauvain Micaille . . . if there be none among you in love . . . now the 'Pu' may be a drunk, but when it comes to war, victory and a fight for love . . . he has learned that with very defeat a lesson must be learned, and that a similar fate must NEVER be repeated, as the hand of Arianna is at stake.

Barnaby and the 'Pu' amble over to the arena, and the preparations for battle commence.

After the Scabernac defeat, the 'Pu' ventured forth into Westland and gained the finest of jousting equipment, a mystical shield made from Ivory and one of the rarest and most ancient of Jousting weapons known . . as a Kopjafa with which the ‘Pu’ will mark the grave of Tokken after the Joust . . . . with these he knew he was ready, but . . .to be sure, one Whisky hip flask was filled and placed within the hand grip of the shield.

As the Joust grew closer, the 'Pu' thought it best to armour up, Ninja pyjamas were not well suited so he discussed with Evan at the Weapons shop, Seth at the Armour shop and Hadrian at the Helmet shop and struck a deal with them all, the finest available and I shall pay in blood from the ven . . . .

The hour was almost upon him and so the Pu suited up and prepared for War, this was not simply a contest for honour, but the chance to have riches beyond the dreams of averise, Arianna . . .all for Arianna
During the evening of beer, the ‘Pu’ recalled the wise words of his fellow drinking partner, Roger of Hoveden, who described tournaments as "military exercises carried out, not in the spirit of hostility (nullo interveniente odio), but solely for practice and the display of prowess (pro solo exercitio, atque ostentatione virium)." As such the ‘Pu’ planned on the best display he could muster.

The time was here, and alas poor Barnaby was incapable of carrying the ‘Pu’ fully armoured, thankfully the WASP posse were present, simply to enjoy the reduced prices at the bar, but nevertheless present, the ‘Pu’ grasped the opportunity and seconded the hell beast that accompanied Hurricane into battle, a fearsome monster that knew no fear and stood proud in many a battle. . . . . Once on board the start line beckoned . . .

As the sound of the horn echoed across the field, the ‘Pu’ could see the enemy start, slow but confident he knew this would be no easy fight, but with each heart beat he knew that today was the day . . . and suddenly he kicks off . . . .
In a hail of dust and cloud the ‘Pu’ accelerates towards his intended victim, one goal, one target, faster and faster. The beast below him could sense the blood as the target grew closer, the ‘Pu’ concentrates the knowledge of a 100’000 battles into this one crystal clear moment, the tactics studied, steady seat and centre strike . . . . the ‘Pu’ senses the nerves in his opponent and the reluctance for all out commitment, ‘Pu’ locks his shield, lance is poised as the knees absorb the motion of the horse the upper body virtually motionless he fully commits to the strike with all his physical force whilst holding firm like stone for any possible strike of the opponent . . .
