| The servers are especially slow right now due to the number of Ven searches being performed. Each time a custom Ven search is performed the server has to search over 400,000 rows and order the information. When we have 20-30 players all doing similar searches at the same time this adds up to many millions of queries being performed and does put stress on the server which equates to laggy page loads. The server we are on is one of the latest and best available and the queries are all optimised to their maximum potential. The trade off is currently within indexing all of the tables so the information is readily available instead of having to order the information every search, however this indexing itself takes time and the more indexes we have the longer it takes to sort at reset and revive times. *Edit: Second to this once the CBR is complete I will look at changing the way the search information is held in the database so future mass searches do not effect the game speed in such a crazy way. I don't want to tamper with it until after CBR then no unfair downtime on battling is experienced. Happy new year! Tom |
