Perhaps as a 3 year veteran of the game you've heard the term? It's what all the beginner guides I've read around here have suggested to get off to a good start in the game. It typically involves staying at a low level and doing your training, mining, lumbering, fishing, building your dwelling and your outpost and generally putting yourself on a solid footing to advance in level in due course. So that when I do get to level 10, 20, 30, 40, etc. I'll have the stats, equipment, and resources to be competitive. For example when I do get to level 10, I won't need beginner protection to stay alive because I'll have the stats to keep myself from getting Venned every half hour. So I'll be able to stay alive long enough to actually make use of the Dark Forest, if I so choose.

As for being only level 3 after 26 days and on track for level 40 in 1 year, since you've only made it to level 27 in 3 years, I'm apparently doing better than you. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that someone who's had an account here for 3 years has yet to realize that a player's level is at best loosely correlated to their power, and that you might be best served to blow 1,000 gold spying me before you ridicule my level.
