| “Someone’s coming this way!” Kaige hissed to her sister who was pacing up and down the path. Kaige’s eyelids fluttered as she went back to her normal vision, she sat awkwardly on the ground, her leg spread out in front of her, swollen and bruised from the weight of her horse landing on it, and she winced as she tried to stand up. “Its them. Stay here, Im going to go make sure that they’re ok.” Sable strode quickly into the shadows of the trees, leaving Kaige sitting on the dirt track. “Not like I’m going anywhere.....even if I wanted to!” Kaige sighed and leaned back against the trunk of a small tree. Damon breathed steadily as he walked, Lithia draped in his arms, unconscious. He tensed as someone ran towards him but quickly relaxed when he realized that it was Sable. “She’s hurt.” He said as the young vampiress looked Lithia over. “Where’s Kaige?” He frowned knowing that it wasn’t a good idea to leave a member of the coven alone in a strange land.....especially if it was the adventurous Kaige. “She’s on the path, her leg is starting to look pretty bad. Do you want some help?” Sable asked, holding her arms out to take some of Lithia’s weight as Damon nodded relieved. As the two worked on hauling the bleeding Lithia out of the forest, Kaige had managed to stand and hobble down to the Inn that sat a few feet away from the path. She bit down on her lip, trying to ignore the throbbing of her leg as she pushed open the doors and peered into the darkness. |
