Colin awoke sometime later to the rocking of the ship. Listening to the creaking and groaning of the boards, Colin determined that they were moving. Swinging his legs to the floor he timed his first couple of steps to the door with the flow of the ship. Walking unsteadily, he began to get the rythm and soon grew more stable. He made his way through the hull to the stair leading to the deck when suddenly the ship rocked violently, sending Colin into the wall with a bang. All of a sudden, voices began yelling out commands to each other.
Colin rose back to his feet and veritably jumped up the stair to the deck. What he saw when he reached the top stunned him for a moment. A huge battle raged upon the deck of the Santa Anna, men dressed in flamboyant colors and all manner of garb were battling the more sensibly dressed crew of the Santa Anna, who seemed to be losing.
Colin drew forth a sword crafted by a monk in the Eastern Mountains, and lept into the fray.
He ducked a wild attack from a man with a grotesquely huge, purple floppy hat with a great white feather in it, coming back up and driving the tip of his sword into the man's belly. With a twist and a yank, Colin freed his blade and began advancing on a group of men attacking a single crewman of the Santa Anna. One man looked back over his shoulder and noticed the approaching man in black garb, turningt to fight, the man forgot about his current opponent who gave him a hard poke in the backside., sending the man directly onto the end of Colin's sword, impaling himself almost up to the hilt.
Colin threw the man down, pulling his blade free in the process and attacked horizontally at the man beside him. This man parried, the end of the blade just barely missing his torso. Satisfied with the successful block, he was not prepared for the backhand that followed, opening his belly and spilling the contents.
Colin didn't have time to watch the man as he died, for he parried several strong attacks from the three remaining buccanneers. With the odds of two against three, Colin couldn't help but smile for he knew that the odds were in his and the Santa Anna crewman's favor.
After several long minutes of vicious fighting, The Santa Anna crew began to turn the tide of the battle in there favor, the pirates eventually began to turn and jump ship, swimming out to sea.
The crew began to move about ship, sleaning the dead and gathering dropped weapons. Colin looked for the captain of the ship and found him nursing his left arm. Colin approached the Captain, and looking into his face Colin suddenly gasped, "It can't be..."
