..you're close, they are epic fantasy like BUT Martin used his fantastic knowledge on medieval European history and put it in his world, you won't find roaming orcs and elves around, humans are the main characters, trust me, you will love it if you're into it, it is not sf even though world is made up, for example, Martin used his knowledge on European medieval period to create the ambiance, weapons, war tactics, every day life, he showed through his book how royalty lived and how common people lived, how war were fought and the worse wars were not fought on the battlefield etc it is great read, so far only one person out of at least 30 I recommended the book did not like it, and.. he is kind of dumb  |
