Subject: New Jousting Guide
This Guide lists the details of how to play with the new Jousting system. Feel free to comment after reading if you feel I have left anything out, or have any ideas for useful additions.

Your main aim in Jousting is to reach the finish line before your opponent. How far you and your opponent have left to reach the finish is shown on the right - the distance is measured in ft.

When you first start Jousting, you will be provided with a Custom Deck of 30 cards. There will also be two new Tabs added to your Inventory - cards you have in your deck, and cards you have on hand. Your deck must contain at least 30 cards, or else you cannot Joust - however many more you put in above 30, is up to you. When purchasing cards, they will be deposited on hand - you will need to place them in your deck yourself. Also, when trading cards with other players and the card in question is in your deck, you will need to place it on hand to trade it.

Each reset, you can duel an NPC opponent at least once - when you have won against them, you will have to wait for the next reset to duel them again, or use a Reset Token. If you lose against an opponent, you are free to try again.

The number of points received is based on how much you beat your opponent by. For example, if you finish the joust when the other player is 60ft behind you, you will win 60 jousting points.

There are two ways you can spend your Jousting Points once you have them: you can have a spin of the Prize Wheel, or peruse Bogart's Shop.

~ The latter is fairly straightforward - Bogart sells a variety of cards you can purchase with points to improve your deck. Cards purchased will be sent to your inventory, in your hand - not your deck. You'll need to put them in yourself.

Bogart also offers a starting boost to your Speed and Shield, which can be seen at the beginning of every Jousting match. These boosts are permanent once bought (i.e. You will always start with 1 Shield after buying the first Shield upgrade, and so on), BUT this doesn't mean it can't be lowered below the starting point by your opponent's cards, so you should still be mindful of what they play.

Each time you purchase a starting Shield or Speed boost, the price of the next boost will increase. The following is an example, showing the first 3 increasing prices of Shield boosts.

Shield Upgrade (I) - 12,000 points (As seen in Bogart's Shop)
Shield Upgrade (II) - 21,000 points
Shield Upgrade (III) - 40,000 points

~ The Prize Wheel costs 1,000 points per spin. Once you start the wheel, it will start and stop by itself - you do not need to click it again to stop it from spinning. There are a variety of prizes, such as Game Credits, Booster Packs and a Mana X card, or you may simply win nothing.

Both tasks will subtract points from your current amount.. BUT!! Your total number of points earned will stay the same. For example, if you have 5,000/7,500 points left to unlock King Mot and you spend 1,000 points, you will own 4,000 points - but the count left to unlock Mot will remain the same. This allows you to use your points as you wish without danger of losing access to certain NPC opponents, or your place on the Jousting Wall Of Fame board.

Your cards are displayed on the bottom of the Jousting Screen, and can be discarded if need be by using CTRL+Click, or Command+Click for Macs. The basic types of cards you will have to worry about are as follows:

~ Move Cards ~ These are used on yourself, and will move your horse forward the number of spaces indicated on the card, plus the number of Speed you have.

E.g. Gallop +3 moves you forward 3 spaces, plus your Speed count.

~ Attack Cards ~ These are used on your opponent. They will be sent back a number of spaces, as indicated on the card, minus your opponent's Shield amount.

E.g. Bite -3 moves your opponent back 3 spaces.

~ Poison Cards ~ These are used on your opponent. Each turn you use a card, they will be moved back a number of spaces, indicative of their poison amount, minus your opponent's Shield amount. Note that you have to use a card for this to take effect - simply discarding one will not activate the poison's effect.

E.g. Poison -1 will force your opponent back 1 space every turn.

~ Shield Cards ~ These are used on yourself. Shield protects you from efforts your opponent will make to move your player back - say, if you had 3 Shield and your opponent used Axe -4, you would only be moved back 1 space. The same applies to poison.

E.g. Shield +2 will provide you with 2 Shield.

~ Cannon Cards ~ These are used on your opponent. If your opponent has any shield, the number on the Cannon card will be subtracted from their Shield amount.

E.g. Cannon -3 will reduce the opponent's Shield by 3.

~ Speed Cards ~ These are used on yourself. Speed is used in conjunction with Move Cards, and provide a boost when moving forward - if you use Gallop +3 and you have 2 speed, you will go forward 5 spaces.

E.g. Whip +1 gives you 1 Speed.

All cards have a Mana cost. You will gain Mana each turn. How much Mana you gain depends on where you are on the board - both you and your opponent start in the +3 zone, and move on to +4, +5, +6 and +7.

There are many different types of cards out there, such as those to reduce speed, those to cure poison, that will make an opposing horse Hungry, and so on.

The following link shows a display of all cards shown prior to the Jousting update. They provide details of all Cards currently available and their effects, as well as the current NPC opponents and their starting setup.
