| The reason that people were able to make a killing on using serfs to get ore is that ore is useful to a lot of people and serfs are the only way to get it in quantity. The mines certainly don't produce enough to supply the demand. I think choking off the ore supply does a lot more damage to the ore customers than it does to the people that had been supplying it. Setting serf prices so high that most people can't profit from them will ultimately just limit the ores supply. Setting up the prices to allow more people to make a modest profit would encourage more people to get into the market and distribute the profits more evenly. Raising serf prices to the point where they're uneconomical for everybody just shuts the whole system down. |
