Subject: Ch. 1 A Phoenix Born | |||||
| Long ago, in a land far from the prying eyes of the world, there was a mountain range that was forever cast into winter. This range was called the Everfrost Mountains and were part of a land known as Four of Season. The country was a very unique one, being split into four sections, each area ruled by one of Nature's seasons, like that of a compass. The highest peak of the Everfrost Mountains was called Blizzard Point, it was shrouded in a neverending snowstorm. What is so surprising about this mountain, besides its stormy peak? It was the fact it was a volcano but not just any volcano. This volcano only erupts once every winter and it did not release red hot flames or ash. No, this volcano spewed snow and azure flames so cold it burned to the touch. Thus giving the wintery area of the land the nickname, Land of Coldfire. One winter, on the day of Blizzard Point's eruption. something stirred within it. Something that was never there before but began to make its presence known. Glowing eyes shone as the coldfire churned and grew, climbing toward the volcano's peak. Blue flames and snow twisted and danced, growing stonger and colder with each passsing second as the mountain began to rumble. With a sudden roar the volcano erupted, ice crystals and cold flames were hurled upward and reached for the night sky. The eruption continued until suddenly the blue flames flared wildly and something burst up from the volcano, its image hidden by the constant blizzard. The icy inferno and snowstormed twisted and were blown aside as the figure finally revealed itself. In a brilliant display of blue/white embers and ice, the figure let out a songful cry to a shocked world. In the most unusual place and in defiance to Nature's Law, the creature spread its wings and proudly showed its form, giving out another cry. The shape, crest and long tail feathers gave its image away to all that knew of the creatures of legend. 'Twas a phoenix that was born. A phoenix born of coldfire. |
