| Arianna placed her the palm of her hands over Sofia's temples and massaged in a circular motion for a few seconds, until Arianna felt the pain fade away. "Sofia, I am going on a dangerous mission. I will have to explain it to you later. For now, I need you to trust me. If you want to come with me you can." Arianna could see that Sofia had sobered up a bit and was both interested and concerned. "I will fill you in later, but we need to get moving. Time is running out." Arianna glanced around and added, "Follow me." Arianna led the way to the corner with the concealed door. As Tom had promised, a man's voice asked for a password. Arianna said "Falco" and then stood perfectly still and silent. When the door opened, she reminded herself not to look anyone in the eyes. She kept her eyes low and looked for the door marked with two blue circles and three red marks. Luckily, it appeared that everyone was too tired to attack them, as Tom had guessed. Once they reached the door, Arianna realized that she would have to be extra careful now that Sofia was with her. Although she had memorized the map Tom had given her, she worried about Sofia. "Just stay close to my, Sofia." Once they entered the maze, Arianna made sure Sofia stayed close behind her. The two of them managed to avoid all the traps that were set in the maze and made it safely to the five doors Tom had told her about. Was it the furthest door to the left or the right? Arianna wasn't sure about which door, but she also didn't want to risk bringing out the map Tom had given her. She decided to take a chance with the left door, she had a good feeling about it. On the other side of the door were two large guards. They looked as if they might attack, and Arianna remembered what Tom had said. She didn't flinch, she stood her ground. One of the guards stepped forward and said, "Follow me." Arianna and Sofia followed the guard in silence. They approached another door the guard turned toward them and said, "Wait here," and entered the next room. When he returned he said, "You may enter," then turned and walked back down the corridor. Arianna led the way and entered the room. Aly was sitting at the other end of the room with a guard on each side of her. A sly smile crossed her face. "I knew you would come." Aly kept her eyes on Arianna as if Sofia didn't exist at all. "So what have you come here for?" Arianna stood up tall and proud. She was very aware of her body language when standing before Aly. Arianna plastered a sly smile on her face and said, "I can help you." Aly leaned forward with interest, yet hesitated. "Go on." She must be trying to determine if I am telling her the truth. Arianna's smile grew wider and more sinister. "I know for a fact that Tom will be taking Saint to the Thief Lord in exactly one month. I told him I needed to take care of some business of my own and would meet him later. So Tom told me that they would be taking the 'Pass of Roads' and to meet them there. They will never see it coming if you were to attack them there. They will be vulnerable, waiting for me." Her smile didn't fade and she kept her eyes on Aly. |
