| When Tom handed her the small crystal inscribed with the word "Thanks" her breath was caught in her throat. She could see that he wanted to say something more, but instead he turned away from her. However, he didn't walk away. He turned back toward her and said, "You're an awesome acolyte Arianna, and you're very strong and brave. No doubt about that. I'm sorry I couldn't go with you." Then he suddenly embraced her and whispered, "I'm sorry I'm not much of a help to you Arianna, or Ry. Promise me one thing though. Don't let him go Arianna. I know you can do it." Arianna looked into Tom's eyes and a tear rolling down his cheek. The tear both saddened and surprised her. "You have been a great help to me. I will do everything I can, I promise. We will both see you soon, so this is not goodbye." She hugged Tom tightly. |
