| (I hope it's okay that I jump in at this point.) The boat docked mid sunset. The hottest part of the day had passed and the rum had just run dry. They'd probably be in the city for a month or so to resupply and take care of individual businesses that needed to be tended to. It wasn't uncommon that the barge left without some of it's usual passengers. Luckily, the routes they took along the coasts were predicatable and easily caught up to. I had been in this city before and vaguely knew my way around by the landmarks. My first order of business, to find a tavern and a place to rest tonight. Heck, that'd probably be the only thing I did for the rest of the day lest anything unusual come around. I began to walk in the general direction of where I remember the tavern to be. I kept a look out for signs and stumbling bums. And there it was. My home away from home. I smiled inwardly as I walked through the door and straight toward the barkeep. "Bottle of rum." I told him as I placed a gold peice on the counter. Sitting on a stool I turned around to face the rest of the bar and observed the going ons, hoping something would quell the boredom that would soon come. |
