Having $20 to spend on something fun doesn't mean $300 /night hotels. Anyone with money for international airfare (not to mention surfboards and alcohol) clearly has some disposable income, and hopefully thought about expenses after landing. I would also argue, staying in a less expensive hotel would increase a tourist's entertainment budget, it would certainly increase mine. So it really comes down are there enough people willing to spend money on dancing, or are they too busy surfing/backpacking/boozing? As Edu says, the classes are full all year at $8 and no one questions it. Since demand exceeds supply, $8 is too cheap and an increase would likely be tolerated. Perhaps $20 is too high, but $8 is still too low. A series of minor price increases over time would help find the right price. |
