the question seems to be is it 6 divided by 2(1+2), or is it 6 divided by 2, then multiply by the bracket of 1+2. I argue that it is 6 divided by 2(1+2), which is 6 divided by 2x3, or 6/6=1. if it were to be considered as 6 divided by 2, then multiply by (1+2), i think standard presentation of that problem would be : (6/2)(1+2), which would indeed end up 3 times 3, or 9. but that is not how it is presented. |
