So based on functionality... the front half of the room is dedicated to work or academics with the main table and the throne to act as the seating. The book case is in the opposite corner for quick/easy reference. The back half of the room is dedicated towards leisure and rest. The bed is on the right to provide balance with the opposite desk/chair set up, while the chess table and stools on the left do the same with the bookshelf. The windows are evenly spaced on the right wall to provide further symmetry to the room, but also for functional purposes. The window towards the front of the room is situated so as to provide light for any work being done on the table, while the window in the back half of the room would assist with practice of "rising with the sun". The center rug is in place to tie the four corners and window wall together as well as because the stone floor would be too cold to walk on at night without one. |
