| Even though real money has been spent, I don't think it should be allowed... A character in this game is not just about stats. There's a person behind each one of the characters here. Some make an account and leave. Some stay and play quietly among us. Others play and make a name for themselves in forum, ven, boats, outposts, trading, mail and/or chat. Of course there are spenders, and real money being involved makes a character property of sorts, but imagine someone in the dark warriors community passing. If a family member knows they play this game and alerts us somehow, or if a friend also plays the game and lets us all know... Do we really want to hear "Well XXXXX left me their account, so I'll be using it now." or something similar on top of the sad news of their passing? Even worse if people decide they want to fight over the account. (As horrible as it sounds, it could happen.) I think... (My opinion, not rules) That at most... Resources and not stats could be left to someone in a will. Although I don't know many people who would care about a few sapphires, some gold and helix, and elements... Game currency, when someone they care for has died. This is virtual property. If someone died, and they left their account to their RL family, who has never played DW before in his life. Would that family member really use the account? And if that person's friend/family already played DW, would they abandon their account if they could gain that of the person who passed? Also, it might be considered multiple accounts of sorts if someone gains an account of a friend. They'd have to choose and it just gets too... Much. There are some people in this game, that if they died in RL... I would not log onto DW again. This is a hard topic for me to comment on because I'm not in the best health at the moment and having surgery soon has some anxiety involved. I have thought about it. If anything happened to me, I'd want my account left alone. Sealed... So it would not bother anyone beyond what my death would actually bring. I'll shut up now, and hope I didn't bother anyone with this post. and P.S. I hope everything is fine with you, Balain. |
