From a metaphysical standpoint, Infinity is the term used to represent something that not only never ends, but also never began. further more, infinity is not liner but stretches in all directions (not just up and down or forward and back, but crosses all dimensions.) In this sense, despite being refered to as such, many would argue that the universe is not infinite because it has a recognized beginning (be it big bang or creator... that is a differnt topic ![]() However, with time and the universe ruled out, that means the only real existence of the concept of infinity would be conceptual like in the cases of mathematics etc. Really in the end, it is our trying to label a concept that as limited human beings can only understand as such rather then fully experiance or understand... human understanding has limits and as such can never fully grasp the truely infinite even if it did exist within our section of time and space and was right in front of our faces... like many terms it was just created to try and generate understanding of something which can never been seen as negative |
